Family reunions are a great time to reconnect, relive and rejoice. That is just what members of the Brooks-Miller-Sweezer families did this past weekend. Reunion participants came from Illinois, Texas, California, Mississippi, Pennsylvania, Washington, Colorado, Indiana, and, of course, Arizona. The reunion was hosted by Arizona contingent led by Anthony Brooks and his wife Diane organized a diverse fun and informative and action packed event for their family members. With the Tempe’s Fiesta Inn serving as the home base for the group, family members enjoyed a fun and informative family dinner on July 17. Keynote speaker was family member Jackie Hampton. Hampton is publisher of the Mississippi Link, in Jackson Mississ-ippi. His topic was “Pass The Test BMS.†During the dinner program Arizona State Rep. Cloves Campbell Jr., presented the family with a ceremonial proclamation welcoming the family to Arizona and encouraged them to enjoy the attributes of the Grand Canyon state. Rep. Campbell, co-publisher of the Arizona Informant and Hampton are members of the National Newspapers Publisher Association. According to Hampton approximately 85 family members attended the event, which is held every two years in various locations. Though the temperatures were a little warm during the Arizona visit, the families still had a great time. The next reunion will be held in Austin Texas and hosted by Emmett Hayes Jr. and his wife Wanda. |
